Description

Lew Groner will lead this hike of about 7 miles, 1800 feet elevation gain round trip on the famous Mount Wilson trail to Orchard
Camp. We will have lunch by the creek, under a 1500-year-old oak tree, and return the same way. About 1/2 of the trail is shaded.

What to bring

Two liters of water, lunch, snacks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, hiking boots or shoes with good traction, daypack, long pants and
long sleeved shirt or shorts and a T-shirt, depending on weather. A jacket and gloves in cool weather. Clothes should be loose
fitting, and light-colors are preferable.

Directions

Fwy 10E to 110N to end of freeway, which turns into Arroyo Secco pkwy, to California Blvd. Left to Pasadena Avenue. Right to
freeway 210E to Baldwin Avenue exit. Left (under the freeway) on Baldwin to Foothill Blvd. Left on Foothill Blvd one block. Right
(N) on Baldwin Ave to Mira Monte Ave (one block before the top of the hill). Right one block to the Mount Wilson Trailhead in the
city of Sierra Madre.

From Valley

Freeway 101E, to 134E to 210E to Baldwin Ave. Continue as described above.

Robertson and Venice Blvd Carpool: 8:15 A.M.

Meet at the western side of the parking lot of Albertson's supermarket, located on Venice Blvd, near Robertson Blvd (there is also
an Office Max and a Starbucks Coffee in the same shopping center). Park on the side street (Durango Ave) next to the parking lot.
This location is right next to the Robertson's Blvd exit off of the 10 freeway. If there is no JOA representative here form your
own carpools. Please share the cost of transportation and parking, if any.

Valley carpool: 8:25 A.M.

Meet in Sherman Oaks at the corner of Riverside Dr and Hazeltine Ave (between Woodman and Van Nuys Blvd). Meet on Riverside Avenue
on the south side, across from Trader Joes. There will be no JOA representative here so form your own carpools.
